An Exploration of Automatic Thoughts and Emotional Regulation Among Government Boarding School Students

Why This Research?
Boarding school students face a unique set of emotional challenges, but their negative thought patterns often go unnoticed. We wanted to uncover how these automatic thoughts affect their ability to regulate emotions, hoping to find ways to support their mental well-being.

Findings: Students caught in cycles of negative thinking struggled significantly with emotional regulation. They felt more isolated, frustrated, and overwhelmed in the highly structured environment of boarding school.

Implications: By focusing on challenging automatic thoughts, schools can empower students to better manage their emotions. Early intervention can help students not only survive but thrive emotionally in the boarding school setting.

How It’s Helpful: Addressing the thought-emotion connection equips young students with resilience, allowing them to handle stress and build stronger emotional foundations for the future.
